INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

The Inter-school Parliamentary-Style Debating Championship is organised to unleash an exemplary public speaking talent among students. The debating court is to train the students in defending the arguments raised and supporting them with proofs. It is also the place to show the students how eloquence and fluency with critical thinking techniques are combined together in delivering and executing the debate flawlessly.

Details about the competition are as follow:

DATE
- 1 - 4 July 2010

PLACE
- Parliament House, Kuala Lumpur

CATEGORIES AND FORMAT
- The championship is open for three language categories – Malay, English and Arabic. Each team is to be represented by 4 debaters (3 main debaters and 1 reserve). The championship is to be based on the Malaysian Parliamentary-Style Debating format applying group “power match” system in the preliminary rounds. This system is usually employed in debating championships among universities at the international level. The final rounds are to be held by way of knockout contest.

PARTICIPATION
- Participation reply form must be duly completed and submitted 2 months before the stipulated closing date.

JUDGES
- The judges for the Parliamentary-Style Debating Championship are to be appointed from amongst the experienced debaters. This step is necessary to fulfil the high quality and transparency of the judgment expected of the championship.
